Streamit releases ChannelService
Eindhoven, December 2009
Streamit is well known for its professional SIR series Internet radios. Now system integrators and installers too have discovered that the Streamit Internet radios are easy to configure and that the remote maintenance and control options deliver an interesting new business opportunity. To support the typical demands and requirements from this new customer group Streamit developed its ChannelService web portal.
ChannelService is for Streamit Internetradios what iTunes is for iPods and more. It offers system integrators and installers a sound basis to develop new services for their customers.
The system offers three major functions:
1. Easy configuration of Streamit Internet radios
2. Adding new radio and music stations
3. Remote maintenance and monitoring of Streamit Internet radios
Most of the available Internet radios on the market are not suitable for professional use. A system integrator or installer can hardly add value to these products. ChannelService is changing this situation.
Wim van Dijk, sales manager at Streamit: “A/V installers should not worry about finding suitable radio stations or about security issues. We developed ChannelService to help system integrators and A/V installers to get more easily into IP Audio solutions. With this web portal we have managed to remove complexity out of the installation and configuration of the Streamit Internet radios.”
Furthermore Streamit wants to offer A/V installers a way to set up more services for their customers. This makes it possible to have more contact moments, possibly leading to more business. Instead of delivering a product, installing it and leaving again, the integrator or installer can offer his customer to maintain and manage the device for him.
Requests to change the available radio stations or to help solve a problem can be dealt with remotely. Many customers just want to have some background music in their shop or on the workfloor and they do not want to worry about it any further. The installer gets a supervisor login account and can manage all the Streamit Internet radios of his customers.
The Installer can see in one single overview what the status is of all radios, while it is easy to detect abnormalities with the color-coding that is used. Looking at one radio the installer can see if the device is on-line, what channel is playing, if an SD card is present, what the firmware version is. If needed, the device can be rebooted remotely or loaded with a new firmware version. Adding or switching radio stations is of course also possible.
First feedback from Streamit dealers is very positive. The availability of ChannelService has proved to be a valuable selling point in several sales cases.
