Internet-based Studio Transmitter Link
Streamit offers a reliable and low-cost studio transmitter link (STL link) based on ip-audio, with features tailored for network operators and radio stations.
The broadcast industry has a huge need for reliable but low-cost data connections. The Streamit STL solution is an IP audio codec specifically developed for broadcasters and radio stations. It is excellently suited to transmit programs to FM transmitters, cable head-ends or satellite uplinks or it can be used as a return channel to remotely monitor the transmitted signal.
The STL solution, built on standard internet technology, consists of a transmitter (SAS250) and a receiver (SIR150), which can also be used independently from each other. Both the transmitter and receiver have XLR connectors for high-quality balanced audio input/output.
Easy installation, configuration and maintenance
Using the optional rack mount kit, both devices can be mounted in a 19” rack. The web user interface, provided through the Streamit device portal, makes it easy to configure and monitor the devices remotely. To further reduce the number of trips to remote locations, the devices automatically recover and reconnect after a power or network failure.
High quality at lower bit rates
The transmitter, the SAS250, encodes the analog audio in Ogg Vorbis format. This delivers excellent audio quality and requires little bandwidth. A standard ADSL connection normally provides sufficient bandwidth. Read more about Ogg Vorbis in our white paper on it.
RDS
A critical element in many STL applications is RDS. Both devices feature an RS232 connector for transparent RDS data transmission at configurable transmission rate.
